Bollywood's 'Hari Puttar' film sparks lawsuit

MUMBAI, India

Let's see Hari Puttar catch out of this one. Bollywood producers set to release a film called "Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors" are working to resist off a lawsuit filed by Warner Bros. that claims the movie claim hews too closely to their mega-famous boy thaumaturgist franchise.

While Bollywood films oftentimes borrow liberally from Western movies, producers of "Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors" say their moving picture bears no resemblance to any film in the "Harry Potter" series.

"There is absolutely nada to link 'Hari Puttar' with 'Harry Potter,'" aforementioned Munish Purii, chief executive officer of Mumbai-based producer Mirchi Movies. Hari is a common name in India and "puttar" is Punabji for son, he said.

"Even if it does rhyme with Harry Potter, surely there is a limit to cases?" aforementioned Tarun Adarsh, editor of Trade Guide magazine.

The plastic film is not a tale of sorcerer spells or flying broomsticks, but kind of a story of an Indian boy left home alone, world Health Organization fights off burglars when his parents go out on vacation - a plot more reminiscent of the film "Home Alone," starring Macaulay Culkin.

Warner Bros. is seeking an enjoining against the film, which is plant for button Sept. 12. Hearings began Monday and the adjacent is scheduled for Sept. 2.

Warner Bros. spokeswoman Deborah Lincoln confirmed that the company has filed a lawsuit against the producers of "Hari Puttar."

"Warner Bros. values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy non to hash out publicly the details of any ongoing litigation," Lincoln said in an electronic mail to The Associated Press.

New York goth metallic element quartette Type O Negative is lED by Peter Steele and features guitar instrumentalist Ken Hickey, keyboardist Josh Silver, and drummer Johnny Kelly. Steele formed Type O Negative in 1990 out of the remnants of slam dance band Carnivore, along with his friend Sal Abruscato (drums). Type O's music slowed down the tempos of thrash metal, alternately satirizing and wallowing in a glum mix of misanthropy, misogynism, impression, and vampiric vocals, as comfortably as scads of cheap-sounding guitar twisting. The band's debut album, Slow, Deep and Hard, was released in 1991, featuring farsighted, mopey dirges with titles like "Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity." Not everyone apprehended Steele's dark sense of humor, though, and he was roast by some critics world Health Organization charged him with being a murderous cleaning woman hater and Nazi comforter. A sham live record album, The Origin of the Feces, appeared the following year, its infamous ensure portraying a geminate of scatter backside (the album was eventually reissued with less vivid art). 1993's Bloody Kisses added amazingly skilled Beatlesque melodies, and Steele's a great shell out dry treatments of his cheerless case matter and the emotional and musical excesses of goth (in particular Type O Negative's make) were deadly accurate and often selfsame amusing. Abruscato at peace following its acquittance to unify Life of Agony, at which pointedness Kelly joined the band. Bloody Kisses slowly south Korean won the lot a cult following, thanks in portion to the picture for "Smutty No. 1" and the band's constant touring, and the album alligatored Billboard's Top 200 well over a year after its vent. The more wellbeing followup, Oct Rust, appeared in 1996, building on the more pop-oriented tracks of its predecessor; in the meantime, Steele achieved ill fame by appearance as a Playgirl magazine centrefold. World Coming Down in the end appeared in 1999 later a three-year reprieve, a considerably darker affair than Oct Rust just proof that -- in nastiness of Steele's pronouncements to the contrary -- its predecessors were no trematode worm. In 2000, Roadrunner compiled The Least Worst of Type O Negative, which featured European single edits and alternate mixes of the band's most popular songs, summation several unreleased tracks. Life Is Killing Me arrived in 2003 with a cover of "Angry Inch" from the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Four long time passed earlier the band returned with Utter Again.
